Who?

Born in the psychedelic sixties to hard working and conservative parents my sister and I grew up in sleepy suburban Perth, Western Australia. We played by the river, the beach and in the bushland of the cemetery. I loved a chocolate Dachshund enough to make me want to become a veterinarian. I did. I became paralysed from the waist down when car hit tree. But not running, walking, standing or kneeling didn’t prevent me being a vet. I still work as one but would prefer to write and read and read and write about walking and not walking, feeling and not feeling, knowing and not knowing. So this is what happens when you enter thechookhouse.

  1. Hi Nicole. I just stumbled on your blog and I am very curious as we share the same surname (partly). My name is Valerie Lobry and I am originally from France but moved here 12 years ago. Do you know a little bit about your ancestry? I really thought I was the only Lobry in Australia but had never checked until today. I’m looking forward to reading your blog as I am also interested in writing and of course reading.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Regards,

    Valerie

    1. I have some cousins called Lobry – our original surname is Dutch and was Lobry van Troostenberg de Bruyn and my father changed his to Lobry de Bruyn and his brother changed his to Lobry. Hope that helps.
